The volunteers will turn their hands to most kinds of work and over the years have become quite accustomed to building platforms, station buildings, walls and turntables etc, we've also had quite a lot of chances to develop our dry stone walling skills ranging from repairs to removing a length and rebuilding where the footings have given way.

The friends are also actively involved with assisting Ian Screeton with engineering works including maintenance, modifications to the locomotives and stock and assisting with overhauls. Over the last three years the volunteers have supported the overhauls and rebuilding of Jay (2003), Fox (2004/05) and Badger (2005).
